Jeffrey Bullard, MD
Founder of Maxhealth, Family Medicine
A passion for driving innovation in family medicine has been a lifelong inspiration for Jeffrey Bullard, MD, founder and chief medical officer of MaxHealth Family, Internal & Sports Medicine, based in Colleyville, Texas.
A native Texan, he took advantage of his extensive education to travel the United States, studying at the University of Wyoming where he earned his bachelor of science degree, before completing his doctor of medicine degree at Creighton University’s School of Medicine in Nebraska. He served as chief resident in Norfolk, Virginia, for his family practice residency, and received the Isadore Marman Award for Outstanding Resident.
His dedication and commitment to excel has been recognized consistently throughout his career, not only being elected as class president of his medical school and serving as a member of the executive committee but also having the honor of receiving the national Upjohn Achievement Award for being an outstanding medical student.
But it was in 1998 when he founded MaxHealth that he truly had an opportunity to make a difference in how medical care is delivered. Frustrated with long wait times and impersonal medical attention, he pioneered a new behavior — “open access” — championing patient-friendly hours, walk-in appointments, and a proactive approach to help patients shift their focus to wellness.
And he hasn’t stopped there. His progressive way of thinking has led him to strive further into creating a better standard of next-generation care. He established the Acuity Brain Centre and MaxFitness to encourage his patients to learn how to support their physical and mental health, and he has created two healthcare apps: AssessMD and Vault.
Nowadays, he spends much of his time teaching, consulting on healthcare delivery and the use of information technology in medical practice. You may even have seen him on the television show TopDocs of DFW, having been voted a TopDoc of Fort Worth.
